Summary from Teresa:

My husband and I are at Edinburgh Fringe Festival with our double-act stand up comedy show "The He & She Show". It is a common occurrence here to have photocalls that are fun and creative. A fellow comedian had the idea of us renewing or recreating our wedding. It was going to be a simple thing with maybe a few other performers from other shows joining us & maybe some thrift store wedding attire with funny improv and that would be that. 

Our friend and photographer Alexa Hill's mother is a florist so she provided the flowers, Alexa had a wedding dress she's used before for photo shoots, who knew if it would fit me - I would try it on in the morning. We found a kilt at a vintage store and borrowed the rest of the "accompaniments"  for Doug, We met lots of great friends, and audience members that stepped in to take part in official duties and we set a time. Now we had a lovely wedding 3 years ago, but couldn't afford a lot of extras. There would have been no way to have a fairy tale wedding in Scotland (although it was my dream like every girls to get married near a castle), I didn't have the big white dress - which I was okay with but sometimes thought about it and regretted not having the traditional wedding dress. We also didn't have the funds to hire a photographer. 

The morning of the wedding Alexia came to help me get ready and the dress was beautiful, it fit perfectly and I felt like a princess. We took a cab to the royal mile (the cab driver thought Doug was the Father of the bride - ha!) and met up with our new friends. After much discussion it was decided to wait until they closed the royal mile for Edfringe and then have the wedding right on the mile, in the middle of the road, in front of the St. Giles Cathedral. A street musician played the violin for us as we walked down the Aisle, my "Guardian" - Steve, an audience member from the night before escorted me and  Bentley from the show "Rubbish Rebel" played our vicar and led us in a simple service, we said some silly vows to each other - and then it all started to feel real. Doug kissed me and I realized what a fairy tale I was in. You see, all the little things I missed in our wedding we had in that moment. It was representative of this crazy, blessed, charmed life we have. Just steps down from where the Mary Queen of Scots lived, we were having our own little royal wedding. 

At that moment, a choir started singing. Took my breath away. And the moment was real now, it was a real moment not just a PR thing. Sometimes you get comfortable when you get married, and take things for granted. I didn't love him any less, but you get comfortable as partners in life. 

As the choir sang in this epic, impromptu moment that only could happen at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival it was like time stopped, and for every note that was beautifully sung,  I remembered all reasons why I married this man that never bores me. I reflected on all his strengths, his bravery, his determination, his aspirations, the way he shows his love for me everyday in the practical things and jumps off into the unknown with me on adventure after adventure.

He believes in me more than I belive in myself and I couldn't ask for a better partner in love, life or even in comedy. 

So that is the story, and now enjoy this beautiful moment that the Barnsley Youth Choir gave to us. (We will also publish the full wedding video soon).
